When attending events run at or by Game Quest, all attendees are expected to abide by the following code of conduct. It mostly boils down to respect.

1. This is an inclusive gaming space

• o All races, religions, ages, genders, and sexual orientations are welcome equally here
• o If you see, hear, or experience discrimination from other guests or staff, please bring it to a staff member’s or owner’s attention. If you wish to do this privately, you can email info@gamequestpg.ca.

2. Bullying or harassment will not be tolerated in any form

• o Racist, discriminatory, or hate language is not permitted
• o Jokes, jabs, and general horseplay in the spirit of the game are permitted, however they are only fun if they are fun for everyone. If anyone asks you to stop, please stop immediately.
• o Minor infractions may result in a warning or temporary ban from the premises. Serious infractions will result in a permanent ban. All bans are at the discretion of staff and owners.
• o If you see, hear, or experience bullying or harassment from other guests or staff, please bring it to a staff member’s or owner’s attention. If you wish to do this privately, you can email info@gamequestpg.ca.

3. Win with humility, lose with grace

• o We know it’s fun to win games, and less fun to lose. Neither outcome should be taken to a degree where it’s a problem for others. Take a breath & shake hands, or walk it off.
• o We take our games just as seriously as anyone, but in the end they are just games. Respect your fellow players and have fun!

4. Obey all local laws and game rules

• o Local laws: any vandalism, personal assault, intentional damage to property or personal items, hate speech, or other crime or attempted crime will result in an immediate permanent ban, and possibly a phone call to the RCMP.
• o If you see something, say something!
• o Game rules: different games and their events may be held at different rule levels, depending on the occasion (e.g., in MtG, a casual night vs REL championship qualifiers). Rule levels will be communicated clearly when needed. Please obey all rules in place for the current event. Failure to follow appropriate rules may have outcomes ranging from a walk-back of turns to disqualification from the event, depending on severity. Please contact a staff member if rules questions arise.

5. Clean up after yourself

• o We are not your maids!
• o Pick up and throw away all garbage, food waste, wrappers, etc. Garbage cans and recycling bins are provided throughout the gaming space.
• o Wipe up any spills immediately, and/or alert a staff member to them so proper cleaning equipment can be used
• o Push chairs back in place when you leave. Return any tables you moved back to their original positions.
• o Please keep your personal belongings close to you or in the storage cubbies/lockers provided; do not spread to more than one chair/table, especially if an event is at or near full capacity. Do not spread your belongings on a table to the point where they can be confused for someone else’s.

6. Observe basic hygiene; no strong odours

• o Out of respect for other players sitting nearby, and for yourself:
•  Please bathe within a reasonable timeframe before attending an in-store event
•  Please use whatever personal hygiene products may be appropriate/necessary for you
•  However, please avoid heavy use of colognes or perfumes
•  Please wear appropriately-laundered clothing
• o Offensive odours may result in a player being asked to leave until the odours are resolved

7. Keep language appropriate to those currently present

• o During regular open hours, we are a family-friendly space. If there are young humans nearby, please keep language clean. (Remember you may not be able to see them when they can still hear you!)
• o Some after-hours events are adults-only, however please remain aware and respectful of your surrounding players.
• o If at any time someone asks you to tone it down, please do so.
• o See points 1-3 above.

8. Do not touch anyone else’s belongings or interfere with their games unless they ask you to

• o If for some reason you need to touch someone else’s belongings, please ask them first; e.g.,
•  They are encroaching on your personal space
•  You would like room to join the gaming space
•  You need to read a card they’ve played to see what it does
•  You need/want to use their controller for a turn
• o We encourage all players to teach and learn from each other, however not everyone shares that view. Some people learn by doing; some just want to do their own thing. Please ask if they are open to input before making suggestions on their gameplay.
